Your Questions Answered

Hopefully any questions you have will be answered below, but if not please make sure to email us with any queries.

Are there ride restrictions?

For health and safety, ride access is based on height and specific ride restrictions, which are clearly displayed at each ride entrance. Some rides may require young children to be accompanied by an adult.
Full details of ride height and passenger restrictions are available from our token kiosk.
Please note that the Mad Mouse, Tidal Wave, and Canyon River rides are not suitable for guests with disabilities that prevent safe evacuation. For more information, see our Special Assistance Policy.

Will the weather affect rides opening?

At Clarence Pier the safety and welfare of our guests is of primary importance to us. From time to time it may be necessary to close rides or attractions due to lightening, rain, high winds or other adverse weather conditions. We regret that no refunds can be offered for any temporary or permanent closures during your visit.

How do I collect my tokens or wristbands?

If you've purchased online, you'll receive a confirmation email (please check you junk or spam folder if it doesn't appear in your inbox). On the day of your visit, head to the token kiosk in the fairground and give your booking name. Our team will then provide you with your tokens or wristbands.

If you're purchasing on arrival, please also head to the token kiosk to buy your tokens or wristbands.

What payment methods do you accept?

We are happy to accept cash and all major credit and debit cards at the token kiosk.
Cash machines available inside all the arcades at Clarence Pier. We also have a free of charge change machine inside The Golden Horseshoe arcade which accepts debit cards only.
We regret that cheques are no longer accepted at Clarence Pier.

What is your lost children procedure?

Clarence Pier does not operate an in-park pager system so please ensure your group has a specific meeting place agreed in advance. If a child becomes separated from your group, please contact a member of staff for assistance.

Do you allow dogs in the amusement park and arcades?

Well behaved dogs are allowed in our amusement park, as long as they are kept on a short lead.
We only allow assistance dogs into our arcades, Wimpy and The Putt Hutt. No other animal is allowed.
We recognise the following types of assistance dogs; guide dogs, hearing dogs, medical alert dogs, allergy detection dogs, mobility assistance dogs, autism assistance dogs or psychiatric assistance dogs.
Unfortunately, UK law does not recognise emotional dogs as assistance dogs.
For more information please refer to our Special Assistance Policy.

Do you have toilets or baby changing facilities?

Public toilets and baby changing facilities are located in the building opposite the main entrance to the Golden Horseshoe Arcade. These are public facilities and not operated by Clarence Pier.

For Putt Hutt and Wimpy customers, toilets are available inside The Putt Hutt for your convenience.

How do I get to Clarence Pier?

If you're travelling by car, there's paid on-street parking nearby, plus two large car parks within easy walking distance. We're also served by multiple bus routes that stop right outside.

Arriving by train? The nearest station is Portsmouth Harbour and is only a 25-minute scenic walk to Clarence Pier.

If you're coming from the Isle of Wight, the Hovertravel terminal is directly next door to us, and the Wightlink ferry port is just a short 20 minute walk away.

Portsmouth Park and Ride offers a convenient, sustainable way into the city. The PR1 bus runs every 15 minutes to The Hard via the city centre. In summer weekends, the PR3 runs to Southsea, including Clarence Pier*. Located off M275 Junction 1. More info: https://parkandride.portsmouth.gov.uk
*PR3 operates weekends only in June–August.

Whats your disabled policy?

Clarence Pier aims to ensure all guests have a safe and enjoyable day. However, some rides are physically demanding, and we reserve the right to refuse admission if we feel there is a risk to your safety or others.

The following rides are unsuitable for passengers with mental or physical disabilities that prevent evacuation in an emergency: Mad Mouse, Tidal Wave, and Canyon River.

Passengers must remain seated and upright, and be able to brace themselves with hands and feet at all times. Those needing special assistance must be accompanied by a carer aged 16+.

Disabled passengers are entitled to one free carer wristband with a full-price Day Rider wristband. Carers must accompany disabled passengers on all rides. Complimentary carer tokens are offered with £1.00 token purchases (not with discounted half-price Super Saver token bags).

We accept proof of disability via: DLA, Attendance Allowance, PIP, Access Card, Invalidity Benefit book, CVI/BD8, or blue/orange parking permit.

Carers are responsible for ensuring their passenger is mentally and physically able to ride. Clarence Pier accepts no liability.

The Health & Safety Executive advises that refusal on safety grounds is not discrimination. We appreciate your understanding.
